Writer's Block: Happy Earth Day

[Error: unknown template qotd]

Easy. I don't have kids. Reduces consumption of damn near everything.

Baby, I don't have kids and I haven't owned a car in 15 years. Shit, I could burn a tire on a playground once a week and still be ahead of the "enviro-moms" come every Earth Day.

Did you see the front-page story in the Oregonian this morning where they gingerly raised the topic of reducing one's breeding output to reduce one's carbon output? It wasn't an answer that the recyclin', bikin', hyper-green folks in Portland wanted to hear, as it ran crosswise to the fact that the most rabid environmentalists I met up there (with a couple of notable exceptions) all had a shitload of brats.

Not yet, but I'll look for it.

You light up that tire, I'll dump the small bag of cat litter that I have to toss twice a week... and we'll have some delicious organic soy beverage.

No, fuck it. I want something with actual SUGAR.

No kids, and I keep the thermostat low enough in the winter that the cats come to us for heat and the floors are, well, refreshingly cool.

The cats are carnivores, but I won't eat anything with a face, so that takes care of the grain-flesh ratio. (I've done enough packings to know that subcutaneous flesh looks *exactly* like pork, and I can't cannibalize).

I also cut my own hair, and don't do any colouring, saving the earth from all that ammonia and such.

I won't eat the bird's eggs, though.

oh, man. And I heard Portland was some sort of paradise.
