Old friends draw out new secrets

Today I got to talk on the phone with someone whose friendship with me goes back to when we were both 15. After the usual stuff, I blurted out something I'd been thinking about for the previous 24 hours, knowing she would understand. Granted, there's nothing to it yet and I don't know if I'm deluding myself or not (yet), but this was something that had definitely gotten my attention and I wanted to tell *somebody*, as though this would make it seem less like a figment of my imagination. I'd once told her something similar some 33 years ago, and the thumbs-up she gave me then gave me ten kinds of confidence. Maybe if she can believe in it, so can I. Maybe it is real.
For now, though, I'd like to just wait and see before I spill more. But I can say that the obvious affection for cats and love of old houses is a VERY good sign.
About time for something good to come along, don'tcha think?
